Describe the barrier
Identify the policy, practice or arrangement that makes participation harder for the disabled pupil. Record the effect on attendance, learning or school life, and what the school already knows.
Ask for a response
Explain the adjustment sought and why it may remove or reduce the disadvantage. Share relevant evidence and ask when the school will review the request. Schools have duties under the Equality Act, but the right measure depends on the circumstances.
Keep routes distinct
A complaint to the school, an issue about EHC provision and a disability discrimination claim are not identical procedures. Check the route and time limit that fits the problem, especially if an exclusion is involved.
